My Calling: As an executive with the Coca Cola Co. my husband accepted an international position in the Middle East in the Country of Bahrain. We lived there as Ex-Pats for 4 1/2 years. In light of our ministry background prior to leaving the U.S., my husband and I were asked to pastor what’s called the Thirteen Hundred, (13:00 military time), Gospel congregation for the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet which is based in Bahrain. Pastor Mike served as Sr. Pastor and I, given my husband’s travel responsibilities, shepherded the Bible Studies and the Women of Excellence fellowship in his absence.

One night I had a dream that I was standing in front of a church and the Sun was shining bright on the front of the building. As I stood there, I saw this dark shadowy demonic presence rising up from the ground against the wall of the building. Instinctively I knew to say “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and all they that dwell therein.” The shadow would then disappear into the ground. Then the demonic shadow rose again and I repeated, “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and all they that dwell therein.” And again, it withdrew downward. A third time as it rose I repeated again, “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and all they that dwell therein.” And again it retreated downward.

After the third time, I became aware of a person, (another woman), standing next to me as the demonic presence rose yet again. At that moment I intuitively knew it was her turn to say it, but she would not! As the presence continued rising, it became bigger than ever. So I yelled at her to “say it”! “Say it”! She would not. So I said, with what seemed like a mighty force, “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and all they that dwell therein.” The demonic presence slammed back into the ground and I awoke. This was July 1997.

It was after this dream that in my quiet time with The Lord I would often hear one word spoken softly; “preach”. For the next 3 years I would hear the word, “preach;” each time with more intensity, yet still softly. I finally had a talk with Holy Spirit and said, I already teach Bible Study, the Women of Excellence and Single and Holy, (a ministry to the young single women in the Navy). The need was great! During my conversation with Holy Spirit I asked Him, “what do you want me to do, stand up on the women and preach?" Understanding the tradition in the Body of Christ regarding women preachers; I did not mention to my husband the conversations I was having with Holy Spirit. I prayed, “Lord if You are calling me to preach, then You will have to tell somebody.” Soon after I made that statement, Holy Spirit informed then Sr. Pastor of the 1300 Gospel Service, Reverend Anthony Mitchell, to call me up to preach. Rev. Mitchell, (who Pastor Mike installed as Sr. Pastor due to the priority of his business obligations), called me on my mobile; which he had never done before. He spoke the words, “The Lord told me to call you up to preach, but you know that already don’t you?" I just melted and marveled at my Lord! My first sermon date was March 10, 2000. I was ordained by Pastor Mitchell July 15, 2000.

Ordained by man in 2000, ordained by God at birth! I will never again be at the mercy of an argument regarding My Calling!
